Update and Thanksgiving

Hmm.. over a month since I've updated. I've been meaning to write for a while now but every time I sit down in front of the PC, I'm usually working on my course work. Anyways, the job was a bit.... overwhelming in the "academic" sense. It's not as busy as being a homeroom teacher, but it's very heavy in a different way. I'm in charge of 10 students IEPs (Individual Education Plans) and need to ensure that they are receiving the support they require in their classrooms. All the students on my "caseload" are LD (Learning Disabled). LD students can have problems in quite a number of areas... verbal input (understanding what people are saying verbally), written output, verbal output, short term/long term memory, etc... I am finding I've got so much research to do. The downside to all of it is that I started in late September which means I'm behind schedule on everything I need to do. I have to give them assessments (that I'm not trained to do!!), analyse the assessments, write IEPs........ AHH!! My course work is pretty intense as well. As soon as I'm done with one thing, there's another thing due. We are suppose to post every 3 days (minimum), so if you don't login each day to read the posts, you will get overloaded with the number of messages that people leave. Anyhow, enough of that. It's kind of boring (I bore myself) :P On the Thanksgiving weekend, we went to Lynn Valley Canyon for a hike. There was a small suspension bridge there and the hike through the park was gorgeous.

We also took a trip to Burnaby the other week... I think I want to live there! Burnaby seems much "spacier" .. not so closed in. It also reminds me of Ottawa, a city I loved living in. The other bonus to it is that it's pretty central AND the school board already interviewed me to TOC (Teacher on Call .. i.e. supply teach).

Anyways, I have a ton of work to do. Thought I'd briefly post. TATA
