Horray?

Well, mid September is now here and no news from the Richmond district school board. I give up with them. Actually, I feel like they are a bunch of snots because each time I'm in contact with them, they seem to be rude. Anyhow, perhaps that's a temporary feeling or perhaps not?

Anyhow, I have been applying to some jobs in Delta and Surrey. I went for an interview with for a 0.5 position in Delta last week and received the offer on Friday. It is a position called an LST which stands for learning support teacher. Essentially, a resource teacher or special education teacher. I would be pulling students who have LD (learning difficulties) from their classes and working with them in small groups or individually on the areas they have difficulty with. I'm so under qualified for this position! Actually, I didn't even think I'd get an interview as I always felt (and probably still do feel) that special education teachers need to have quite a number of successful years of teaching under their belts in order to really be able to do a great job in this position. However, a job is a job and I will learn a lot from it. There is another LST at this school who is full time so I won't be on my own either. This position also only goes until the end of December which makes me a little less than enthusiastic, but again, a job is a job.

The other downside to my news is that the school board is experiencing declining enrollment. The principal told me that each June, they end up laying off teachers who have less than 3.5 years experience (they all do get placed in positions by the fall, but it's very stressful). I'm hoping that I'll somehow land something in Surrey as they are the 5th largest school board in Canada at the moment. Surrey housing is also not as expensive, so that will be the other bonus. Anyways, I really shouldn't over think my situation right now as I will have a pretty packed schedule between teacher half time and taking two online courses.

Anyways, that's it for now. Just thought I'd update :)
