Another Move

It's been a long time since I last updated.. more than a month! Not sure how many people are wondering where I've disappeared to, but oh well :P

A lot changes in a period of a month. I was back in Fton and am now in Ottawa again. A lot of serious contemplating about what this year and next year holds for me. I had barely any luck with my job search .. and sort of know why now (I was applying through this website called applytoteach.com which is what the school boards want us to do, but apparantly because many of the principals don't know how to use it, they have been mainly looking at faxes.. which I did not do.. ARGH!!!). Anyways, no point beating myself over the head about that now, can't do anything about it. Anyhow, I had one sole interview.. in Calgary. I had pretty much given up hope that I'd get any response from them (actually, I was skeptical I'd get a response from them when I mailed my application in March). Calgary is a bit strange in that they don't post their job openings. You have to get through the first interview in order to even be considered for a teaching position. When I first received the call to go for the first round of interviews (about 2.5 weeks ago), I didn't think the interview would be that difficult. I had heard from some of my classmates that the interviews in Ottawa were pretty easy.. 5 questions, all pretty basic, and you got the list of questions before going into the interview! Boy, was I wrong. I had 30 questions and 30 minutes to answer them. They weren't those straight forward ones either, really questioned why you wanted to teach and what your goals were as a teacher. I was somewhat stumped on some of them, but it got better as I become more comfortable.

Long story short, I made it through the first round of interviews. In fact, the lady said that I have a very good chance of landing a permanent position... if I move closer. SO, I plan to do that next year.

Because of all this moving, I've decided not to stay in Ottawa to work as a supply (probably would earn enough to break even on living expenses). I'd definitely have supply work, but it's so random and I need something more consistent. SO, I'm moving back to F'ton for a year to save money working full time (at some sort of job - currently looking).

I'm kind of sad to have to leave Ottawa. I really like this city! There's so much to do and so many different types of people. I love the diversity of it! I like that it's so culture rich. On the other hand, I also really love Fredericton. Ah.. the dilemma.

Anyways, thought I'd update people on my current situation. L8r.
